Research and Writing Resources

Defined as diligent and systematic inquiry or investigation into a subject in order to discover or revise facts, theories, applications, etc., research is a long and often utilized way of learning about the world. In today's climate, the importance of information and the applicable skills to gain, identify, utilize and learn factual information is paramount to success for our students. Below are some resources patrons can use to assist them in their work.

EBSCO

EBSCOhost is a contracted compilation of databases available free-of-charge to Roosevelt High School's students and staff. It is mainly used for research on national and international topics, in formats like magazines, journals, newspapers, books, and primary documents. The “Points of View” database is useful when writing argumentative papers. See your teacher or library staff member for the user name and password.

Owl Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL)

The Online Writing Lab (OWL) at Purdue University houses writing resources and instructional material, providing these as a free service of the Writing Lab at Purdue. Students, members of the community, and users worldwide will find information to assist with many writing projects. Teachers and trainers may use this material for in-class and out-of-class instruction.

The Owl Purdue Online Writing Lab offers over 200 free resources on various subjects including:
