General Announcements:

  • NHS Meeting

Hi members! This is a reminder that our next meeting will be on Thursday, January 26 during lunch in A202. See you all there!

  • Freshmen Sophomore Banquet

Hey Freshmen and Sophomores, are you ready for our Sound of Spring Banquet?  Our banquet will be on Sunday March 12, 2023 from 5:00pm-9:30pm at the Ala Moana Hotel.  Early bids sales are $65 and run from Jan 17-20 after school for one hour at the red and yellow bus stop benches in front of A119.  Late bid sales run Jan 24-27 after school for one hour at the same red and yellow benches  (or until we reach our 150 seat capacity).  Tickets  for late bid sales are $70.  Attire is dinner attire (collared shirts, dress / nice jumpsuits, no slippers, t shirts, shorts, and other school prohibited attire).  Please pick up a contract for more details.  Contracts are available January 9 and will be located from the Freshman and Sophomore bulletin boards.  In order to attend the banquet there must be no Class A or B offenses during quarter 2 and 3. In order to purchase a bid, contracts must be signed and obligations cleared.  See Class of 2025 IG for more details.

  • Senior Prom Contracts and Ticket Sales

Attention Seniors,

Senior Prom will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the ʻAlohilani Resort Waikīkī Beach. Tickets will be sold during lunch and after school outside of A105 on January 24,25,26, and 27. The cost of each ticket is $120 for RHS seniors and $125 for all other guests. Costs will increase to $135 during the late bid sale period, so get your tickets now. 

Those interested in attending should download and complete the Senior Prom Contract on the school's website or come and pick up a hard copy in A105 or A117.

  • Valentine Dance

Hey Rough Riders! The Sophomore Council is hosting a Valentines Dance on February 10th at the Senior Patio, from 5-9:30. Presale ticket sales will be held from Thursday Feb. 2, Friday Feb. 3 and Monday Feb. 6 after school at bus stop benches in front of A119. Presale tickets will be $10 and comes with a slice of pizza and drink. You may also purchase entry at the gate the day of for $10 but it does not come with pizza and a drink. 

  • Crochet Flowers for Valentines Day

The Crochet Club will be selling crocheted flowers for Valentine's Day. Flowers can be pre-ordered at A-105 during lunch and after school from January 30-February 7. You can fill out a card for the recipient at the time of purchase too.

Flowers will be delivered to recipients on Valentine's Day.

  • Campus Beautification

Hello Rough Riders.  We will be having a campus beautification on Sat. Feb. 18, 2023, from 8-11:30 am.  What do we do for campus beautification?  We paint, clean up, plant, etc.  This school belongs to all of us so let's show some pride and come on Feb. 18.    We are inviting clubs, teams, teachers, and individuals to come and join us to have some fun working together & make new friends while making the campus beautiful.   Sign up in room A3.  

  • Judo

Conditioning for our upcoming Judo season starts 1/30 and will be held Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays, 3:30 at the track. All forms must be turned in to the trainers prior to practice. For more information, please see Mr. Shimokawa in room A-219

  • JV Boys Soccer

Congratulations to our boys JV soccer team for placing 2nd in the OIA DII championships.  

  • Track Tryouts

Tryouts for our Boys and Girls track teams will start on Jan. 30 and end on Feb. 3.  Tryouts times will be from 3:45pm - 7pm.  All athletic forms must be completed in order to tryout.  

  • Drivers Education

The next Roosevelt High School driver education class will run from March 21-April 27, 2023.  Class will be held virtually on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5:30-8:30pm.  The final exam is in-person on April 27 at 3:15 pm in the Roosevelt library. 

Applications are being accepted from January 23-27, 2023 ONLY.  DO NOT SUBMIT APPLICATIONS BEFORE OR AFTER JANUARY 23-27.


A copy of the application is included in this email,  or you may pick up a copy in room A3 from January 23-27.   A CLEAR copy of both sides of the student’s current driver permit, centered in the middle of one page, must be included when the application is submitted.  Roosevelt students must submit the copy of their permit when picking up the application.  


Fully completed applications, along with the copy of the driver permit, are due to Ms. Dudoit, by 2:30pm on Friday,  January 27, 2023,.  Roosevelt students must fully complete the Student Class Schedule on side 2 of the application. Late and/or incomplete submissions may not be considered.

Please note:

Class is limited to 14 students only.

Selection for the class is by lottery.   

Students must have access to a computer with a working camera.  Cameras must be on throughout the entire class period (this is a Dept. of Transportation requirement).  

The class list will be posted in front of room A3 at 2pm on February 1, 2023.  Roosevelt students are responsible for checking the list, they will not be contacted.  


1) both the student and parent are required to attend a mandatory virtual orientation meeting on Thursday, February 23, from 5:30 -7:30 pm. A webex link will be sent to those selected.  

2) $10 class fee must be paid (cash only) by February 8 to Ms. Dudoit in room A3. 

3) Non-Roosevelt applicants will be contacted via email if selected.

 Classes will be held virtually on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from March 21-April 27, 2023 from 5:30-8:30 pm.  

Final exam will be given in person in the RHS library on April 27, 2023, from 3:15-5:15 pm. 

Driving with the instructor will be scheduled after the class begins.
