Clubs/Class Announcements:


  • Students and Staff of the Quarter

Hey Riders.  We would like to honor special people on campus.  Each quarter we will highlight 3 students and 2 staff.  Criteria:  someone you feel who demonstrates Rough Rider character (kindness, pride, respectfulness, honor).  Come to A3 between now and Oct. 1 to submit the names you feel shows the true Rough Rider spirit.


  • Dippin Dots For Sale

Aloha Roosevelt Fam! Please come to A101 after school from 9/20-9/24 to purchase Dippin Dots! All proceeds go to the creation of the yearbook. Dippin Dots are $4.


  • Spirit Week This Week

Hey Riders. This week is spirit week.  Dress up accordingly and make sure your teacher for your first class of the day counts the participants and sends in the google form they will be getting in their email.  Monday, 9/20:  MONOCHROME MONDAY.  Dress completely in one of the fall colors- brown, yellow, orange, green, or black.  Tues, 9/21: THROWBACK TUESDAY. Dress  in attire from the 1980's, 1990's, or early 2000s.  Wed. 9/22:  SWEATER WEATHER WEDNESDAY. Dress up nice and cozy in your favorite sweater.  Thurs. 9/23: THANKFUL THURSDAY. Dress up as a teacher you are thankful for.  Fri. 9/24: FUNKY FRIDAY.  Dress up funky or strange.  ALL DRESS UPs NEED TO BE APPROPRIATE AND IN GOOD TASTE.  


  • Book Club

Hey rough riders! Is there anyone out there who loves reading and meeting new people? If so, come join the goodreads book club through the google classroom code 6wbkt24. Meetings will be held in Mr Henmis room in room A221. The first meeting date will be posted on the google class soon. The club will not be responsible for providing the books selected.


  • Ice Cakes For Sale in A-118!

Stop by A-118 after school to purchase an ice cake. Flavors vary by day. All proceeds go to special education CBI Level 3 class. 


Athletics:


  • Girls Volleyball Tryouts

Tryouts for our Girls Volleyball team will resume on Monday, Sept. 27 at the Gym from 5 - 7pm.  Some outdoor conditioning will be done during the tryout period.


  • Bowling Tryouts

Bowling tryouts will be held on Sept. 27, Oct. 4 & 11 at Leeward Bowl starting at 6pm.  Cost will be $4 per game and includes shoes.  Look for Coach Herbie, he will be wearing a red RHS bowling shirt.  All athletic forms must be turned in prior to tryouts.  Also, a vaccination card will be required in order to enter the bowling alley.


  • JV/Varsity Swimming

Attention Riders! Pre-conditioning for swimming starts on October 18. Swimming is a winter sport open to all grades and highly encouraged for those interested in girls water polo. In order to participate you must complete all required forms and turn them in to the athletic director, Coach John Chung, with a picture proof of your COVID-19 vaccination card. Forms and additional information can be found on the website, roughrider-swimwp.weebly.com. You can also email Clara at eunlee22@roosevelths.k12.hi.us.


  • Boys and Girls Cross Country

Interested in running Cross Country? Get in shape. No experience necessary. Everyone is welcome.  Please see Mr. Romero in room N 101. It is not too late to sign up and represent RHS. Current athletes, please make sure you submit all your paperwork ASAP.   


  • Wrestling Informational Meeting

Interested in joining our wrestling team? There will be an informational meeting Wednesday 9/22 afterschool at 2:15pm in A-116 (Mr. Shimokawa's room). See you there.
